Noble Hops
Gastropub
a pub for foodies
Reviews
Noble Hops' fare, beer appeal to foodies and 'hoppys'...the patio has a stunning view of Pusch Ridge in the Santa Catalina Mountains...Noble Hops has 28 draft beers on a rotating menu, priced at $4 to $6 a pint. All are from microbreweries, with a growing contribution from Arizona...the ladies ordered tap wine from the keg. The cabernet and zinfandel were quite good...the gnocchi ($9) were ambrosial, melt-in-your-mouth, little mounds of potato in a creamy gorgonzola cheese sauce. All four of us raved...we ordered the Drunken Chicken ($16), keeping with the spirit of things - best chicken I've ever eaten. The half-chicken's skin was dark and crispy without being tough. The meat was moist. The chicken is marinated in beer, cooked in a smoker and finished in a roasting oven. It came with roasted pumpkin and sautéed vegetables, all infused with a malt cream sauce...for all its fancy foods, it's a friendly, casual place where you can sit at the 30-foot bar and watch a football game.
Hoppy Days are here for those who enjoy good food and beer...Executive Chef Angel Fabian creates dishes that go far beyond the usual hot-wings bar fare...the menu offerings, many of which change seasonally, include fresh-baked Bavarian Pretzels, Porcini Dusted Gnocchi, Fried Onion Blue Burger, Fish 'n Chips, and Banger Kabobs...to complement the seasonal menu, Noble Hops offers a variety of wines in addition to beer...the unique 30' bar is accessible to customers seated both inside and on the spacious patio.
You can sit on comfy bar stools and watch the busy bartenders pulling draughts from the row of taps linked to the 50 kegs in the windowed keg room...you can even get wine on tap...plush super-sized banquette and cozy couches beckon, and cigar lovers will applaud the humidor and adjacent private patio for smokers-only...a small front room offers table seating and is designed for diners who want a more intimate setting - colorful bottles lining the walls light up for special occasions...the spacious, shady side patio offers terrific views of the mountains...tasty fare created by chefs Angel Fabian and Mark Muscoreil includes creamy cheddar cheese soup is made with maple-glazed pork belly and finished with a dab of ale froth. Grilled shrimp cocktail is served over crushed frozen citrus ice...Unusual offerings like braised ox tail and oven-roasted whole spaghetti squash baked in marinara sauce join upscale takes on old-fashioned pub standards like fish 'n chips and shepherd's pie.
Noble Hops Gastropub prides itself on being a 'pub for foodies' ... this gastropub has been causing a lot of hubbub lately, as residents from all corners of Tucson have been venturing out to give it a try... both plates were enormous in portion, and appeared to be average pub creations. However, a creative 'foodie' spin marked each dish, as the Fish n' Chips came with special dipping sauces of brown butter, and a creamy, concocted aioli... the dishes were tasty, and the creative twists were appreciated.
Simply Delicious - Noble Hops unpretentiously melds gourmet food and an amazing beer selection
The entrées ... were impeccable. My braised oxtail with gnocchi ($18) was a big, rich portion of shredded, tender oxtail, dotted with a generous amount of fluffy gnocchi in an ever-so-slightly sweet, full-bodied sauce. Ted's New York strip steak ($22) was cooked to medium-rare perfection, and the pepper crust added a bold flavor without being overwhelming. The steak, presented in two pieces, was a plentiful portion in itself, but was accompanied by some excellent, feathery garlic mashed potatoes and crispy roasted root veggies.
Kick back, relax and prepare to overwhelm yourself with an unimaginable selection of beer from every flavor, color and origin... After a long day at work (or just a long day), this is the place you want to be... If you like a tasty, fresh-to-order, juicy burger, you can't go wrong with Noble Hops.
Owners and brothers Aric and Josh Mussman-who own both local Vero Amore restaurants-have created a hopping little spot that serves classed-up food and one of the biggest assortments of beer we've seen. The burgers are big and juicy; the shrimp cocktails are beautiful; and there's enough variety to please everyone, even vegetarians. Nice view of the mountains, too...
